Hi I'm Richard Dewdney
I have worked in health and social care for 18 years in various roles. I started out working as a sports and leisure assistant for 3 years. Within the 3 years I was promoted to manager. This is where I realised, I was good at working with people and could help them in many different ways. I then went on to work for the youth offending team as a mentor helping and supporting young people to reach their full potential. I also worked as a youth support worker for several years in the evenings with Torbay council youth service whilst also working at South Devon College as a SEN support worker.
I then went on to work for Devon school (school for special educational needs and/emotional social behavioural difficulties). My role was behaviour manager, PE teacher and activities co-ordinator, running a team of learning support assistants, teaching assistants and residential care workers. After roughly 4 years in that role I transferred to residential childcare as a team leader to enable myself the flexibility to complete a Hons degree. During this time, I also worked part time for a day-care service for adults with learning difficulties as an activities
co-ordinator. In many of my roles I have helped people with numerous difficulties to overcome barriers to learning, promote semi-independence / independence and to teach them the necessary life skills to advance them in their professional and/or personal lives. Many of the people I have worked with have positively thrived and progressed into becoming a valued member of society.
What many people do not realise is that I have been diagnosed as having dyslexia, but I have not allowed that to affect my life. I have learnt to adapt to the things I have found difficult, I would like to help our clients to adapt and overcome any potential barriers that may stand in their way.
Honours degree in child and adolescent mental health, foundation degree in psychology, stage 3 certificate in counselling, social science level 3 diploma, health and social care level 3 diploma. Youth work level 2 diploma, CYGNET trained in autism, community sports leaders award and a public service first diploma and have also participated in many professional development courses. I am also DBS checked.
Hi, i am Rexy White
I am originally from Switzerland however, I have lived in England for 20 years and worked in the British education system for 12 years (working with all ages groups), in community schools as well as in the private sector. One of my many roles was to lead forest school activities and a key worker to many young people, working closely with both the young person and their families. Within that time, I gained my forest school leaders certificate and a level 3 Special Educational needs certificate.
I am also the founder of Rainbow Care Farm, where we work with children and adolescents who have learning difficulties and/or physical disabilities. They work with farm animals and are taught about general farming. Our visitors learn important life skills such as; staying safe in different environments, a responsibility to look after animals, to look after their own health including healthy eating, exercising and most importantly to gain confidence as well as decision making.
Training for the Care farm included a course in Animal assisted Interventions.
I am also the founder of Rainbow RDA (riding for the disabled association) where my roles include chairman and instructor. We provide therapy for some of our riders and others learn to ride, (depending on their wishes and abilities). To become an RDA instructor includes many training hours to mount and dismount clients with various physical disabilities, the training also included courses such as, autism awareness, disability awareness, observation and planning.
I have been working for a day care service for adults with learning difficulties as an activities co-ordinator for a year. Within this time through continued professional development I have done a level three Cognitive Behavioural Therapy course and recently completed a stage 3 certificate in counselling. I have a current safeguarding certificate; level 3 first aid and I am also DBS checked.
